Hansel and Gretel Cuckoo Clock

This is a story about the Thea sisters and the Cuckoo Clock Carnival taking place in Germany. Once again in this story the Thea sisters were finishing their final exams and were wondering where to spend there vacation when Pamela got an e-mail from her friend Hans. Hans worked with a clockmaker named Herbert Lange. Herbert Lange was a famous clockmaker whose Hansel and Gretel clock got selected to be displayed in the Cuckoo Clock Carnival. The clock had the figurine of Hansel, Gretel and the Witch.

Herbert told Hans to pack the clock and keep it ready to be sealed the next day. The next day they sealed the box and took it to the carnival. When they opened the box and unwrapped all the layers of protection they found out the witch figurine was missing! Herbert got angry at Hans for losing it as the witch was the most important figurine! Thea sisters were sad for Hans and decided to find out who stole the figurine because the place were the witch figurine was kept wasn’t harmed at all so it had to be an experienced person who stole it.

Villigen Stamp

Just when they were going to leave, Pamela checked the box the clock was brought in and to her surprise she found a silver button. Maybe this button belonged to the person who stole it. Later, Hans and the Thea sisters were at a tearoom when Hans remembered a stamp on the base of the figurine. The stamp looked like a bird and had Villingen written on it. Villingen was another town in the black forest. They went to Villingen and found out that the stamp was used by Anton Keller, who was a great clockmaker.

The caretaker who gave them all these details also gave them card which had the name of a person who now ran Keller’s workshop. His name was George Ziegler. When they met George, he told them that a mysterious person with a button missing in his coat came and bought 2 figurines. One of a female mouse who was wearing a traditional dress and one of a lumberjack with wood on his shoulders. He also told them that Anton Keller had 2 students Herbert Lange and Josef Schutzen. They got help from a friend and found out that Josef lived near the town of Triberg.

Josef lived in a clearing in the woods. The Thea sisters and Hans reached the house but no one was there. A few minutes later someone emerged from behind the trees. It was Josef! They went inside and started asking questions. At the end Josef admitted that he was the thief and that he wanted to finish the clock his teacher had started. It was a beautiful clock named The Winter Forest Cuckoo Clock. Josef wanted to finish it but Herbert didn’t want that. So Josef had to steal it. The Thea sisters and Hans told Josef that he should go to the carnival with the clock and apologise to Herbert.

Herbert accepted the apology and they were best friends again like they used to be when they were students. It was a happy ending and the Thea sisters also got to ice skate on Lake Titisee. I will give this book 10/10 stars becase it was nice and mysterious. The genres for this book are Mystery, Humour and Adventure fiction. The age level is 7–10 years and grades 2–5.
